his style reminds me a WEE bit o van gogh....esp with his
movement and colour in some of his paintings.

my fav was this one: Odotus seemed so lonely..... sitting
in a chair....all alone in the ice covered room. it's
CHILLY. love the snow and ice scenes!!

thanks SO MUCH for sharing....i had not heard of him....and
i'm glad i know about him now. =0)

whoa. where did you see his work?
he is (was) finnish. i don't a lot about him, but i've seen
some of his paintings; very dark & twisted pictures many of
them featuring giant penises and the like...

the man was seriously depressed most of his life and kept
planning to commit suicide. though he never did it, he died
suddenly of some disease in his cold wooden house.

i'm going to see a Palsa exhibition in helsinki next month
and i'm sure it's going to be interesting.

'Odotus' translates to 'The Waiting'...

Hmm, methinks y'all a bit sophisticated! I like art, but
don't find much time for it in my small world of alienation
and memories.

neetta put up a GREAT link on the topic titled Venetian
Snares by Bile....i'll copy and paste it on here.

thanks for the translation on that painting Kaimo.....and
your background on the artist ......it makes sense from his
paintings......very cold feeling (not just the ones with the
snow and ice) his self portraits are very telling as well!

this is neetta's comment:

hey lecoeur..
check this out.
he's a finnish artist from the 70s. very strange, the
website does not have his best works. but i have totally
fallen in love with his style.

the link she gave
